Your information

Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect what you send us so we can answer you and do the work. This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and we sell nothing to anyone.

What this covers

This policy covers this website, vallartainspections.com, and the information you give us when you enquire about or hire us for an inspection or maintenance work.

It replaces the policy published here in January 2023. That one was a general-purpose template: it described advertising networks, data brokers, franchisee websites, sweepstakes and behavioural advertising, none of which this business has ever done. Rather than carry it over, we have written down what actually happens.

What we collect

What you send us. The contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number, the service you're interested in, the property's location, an optional link to the listing, and your message. Every field on it is something you typed. The same applies if you reach us by WhatsApp, email or telephone instead.

What a job generates. If you hire us, we hold the property address, the access arrangements, the photographs and readings taken during the inspection, the report itself, and what we need in order to invoice you.

What the web server records. Like every web server, ours writes an access log — your IP address, the page requested, the time, and the user-agent string your browser sends. It keeps the site running and shows us when it is being probed. It is not linked to your name and it is not used to profile you.

What we don't collect

This site sets no cookies of its own. It runs no analytics of any kind — no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no session recording, no advertising or retargeting tags. The previous version of this site did run Google Analytics. This one does not.

The only thing this site stores in your browser is your choice of English or Spanish, held in local storage so the site doesn't switch language on you between pages. It contains nothing but en or es, only this site can read it, and clearing your browsing data removes it.

We don't buy information about you from anyone, and we don't build a profile of you.

Who else sees it

Web3Forms delivers the contact form. When you press send, what you typed goes to their service, which emails it to us.

Zoho Mail hosts our email, so anything you send us — by the form or directly — is stored in that mailbox.

Google Fonts. The site loads its typeface from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads. This is the only third party your browser contacts on our behalf while simply reading the site.

hCaptcha protects the contact form against automated abuse. When you open the contact page it receives your IP address, information about your browser, and how you interact with the page — that is how it judges whether you are a person rather than a script — and it may set its own cookies or storage to do so. It runs on the contact page only. We turned it on because the form is otherwise open to anyone who reads the page source, and a flood of automated submissions would crowd out real enquiries.

Hetzner Online GmbH hosts the site. The server is in Helsinki, Finland — so although we work in Mexico, the pages you load are served from the European Union.

WhatsApp, if you choose to message us that way. That conversation happens on Meta's platform under their terms, not ours.

Tradespeople and specialists, where a job needs one — and then only what they need to do that work, with your agreement.

We do not sell your information, rent it, or hand it to advertisers or data brokers. We take no referral fees from anyone, which means there is no arrangement under which passing your details on would earn us anything.

Why we collect it

To answer your enquiry, quote the work, arrange access, carry out the inspection, deliver the report, invoice you, and be able to answer questions about that inspection afterwards. That is the entire list.

We will only email you about anything other than your own enquiry or job if you ask us to.

How long we keep it

Enquiries stay in our mailbox while they might still turn into work, and we clear out old ones periodically.

Inspection reports, photographs and job records we keep. Clients come back years later asking what a report said about a particular thing, and a report can matter in a dispute long after the sale closed. If you would rather we did not keep yours, tell us and we will delete it.

Server access logs stay on the server for operational purposes only and are never combined with anything else we hold.

Your choices

Email info@vallartainspections.com and ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. There is no form and no process — this is a small business and the reply comes from a person.

You can use the whole site without giving us anything. Nothing here requires an account, and the contact page is the only page that asks you for information.

Security, and what we won't claim

The site is served over HTTPS and the contact form submits over HTTPS. Reports and job records live in our own accounts and are not published anywhere.

We are not going to tell you your data is impregnable, because nobody can honestly say that. What we can say is that we hold as little as the work requires and share it with as few people as possible. If something goes wrong that affects your information, we will tell you rather than hope you don't notice.

Children, and changes to this policy

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
